Expert Perspective: “One word- flawless! It’s a gorgeous teardrop updo with beautifully placed bangs. I was a little partial to this hairstyle because it is so similar to the style I gave Kristen Davis on Sex & the City.”

GET THE LOOK:
Start by applying a volumizing mousse, like PRAVANA Elevate Botanical Root Boost, to wet hair and blow out with a large round brush
Apply a heat protectant to dry hair and set in hot rollers
Take down roller set once hair is fully cooled
Use a boar blend brush to smooth hair into a high ponytail
Backcomb the pony to give it structure, then smooth over the top
Spray a bit of hair spray to keep flyaways down
Wrap the hair around two fingers until it rolls up into itself
Secure the hair at the base of the loop, under the base of the pony
Using fingertips, lightly fan the hair out on both sides
To finish, use a strong-hold hairspray, like PRAVANA Finish Rock Hard Mist, to add shine and lock in the style

Expert Perspective: “This hair was a brilliant take on the 1930’s. I loved that the shadow waves were not too tight to the face. It was a perfect way to evoke a modern style with a period feel. It reminded me of the hair at L’Wren Scott during F/W 2012 New York Fashion Week – my absolute favorite runway look of the week!”

GET THE LOOK:
Start by applying a volumizing mousse to wet hair and blow out with a large round brush
Heat up a ¾” curling iron
Apply a heat protectant, like PRAVANA Keratin Fusion Thermal Insulator, to dry hair
Choose which side you’d like to part the hair on
Curl the hair in small sections; curl under, going away from the part toward the nape of the neck, down toward the ear in small sections
Let the hair cool completely and rake through the style with fingers to gently separate the curls
Adjust the hair into the shape that is the most flattering for you
Finish with a medium hold hairspray, such as PRAVANA Super Shape

TINA FEY

Expert Perspective: “Head to toe, I think this is the best Tina has ever looked. I loved her in this high modern oversized bun. The hairstyle had perfect balance – couldn’t ask for a better execution of this style.”

GET THE LOOK:
Start by applying a volumizing mousse to wet hair and blow out with a medium sized round brush
Apply a heat protectant, such as PRAVANA Keratin Fusion Thermal Insulator, to dry hair and set hair in hot rollers
Remove the roller set once hair is fully cooled
Take a boar blend brush and smooth the hair away from the face toward the back
Backcomb from the hairline to the crown to achieve a soft lift before you get to the bun
Pull hair back into a high ponytail
Backcomb the pony to give it structure and volume, and then smooth the top layer of the hair
Start wrapping the hair loosely around the ponytail holder
Pin the style in with long hair pins
Pull at the bun until you get the desired shape
Finish with a strong hairspray to make the look last all night
*Tip: If your hair doesn’t look as full as you would like, use extensions that match your hair color to achieve volume to create an Oscar-worthy look.
